Somewhat in the same spirit as that last post, another great engineering story, this one from Damien Katz. This story illustrates perfectly why it makes me so crazy when job postings demand, "10 years experience with XYZ." Clearly if you can get a really great person who also has XYZ experience, that's optimal, but if you have to choose, you want a really great programmer (who doubtless can learn XYZ very quickly) over a mediocre programmer with lots of XYZ experience.
